Cross country
RISING SUN - The Trinity Lutheran  boys opened their season Saturday by placing second in the Rising Sun Invitational
Rising Sun had 44 points, the  Cougars had 50, and Waldron was third with 76. Six schools competed.
Ryan Schneider led the Cougars by placing fourth at 20:25.

Coach Jay Cherry said, "It was a very tough, hilly course. Rising Sun had the top three places, but all of our runners came in before their No. 5 runner. Ryan did a good job to stay out front with the leaders Connor (Hoene) gave us a big lift with his seventh-place finish. The rest of our team packed it in as well. And gave us a well-deserved second-place finish."

Waldron was the only girls team with five runners.
Trinity only had three girls compete with Taylor Royalty finishing second at 22:16.

"This was the first time any of our runners have ran a cross country meet," Cherry said. "Taylor ran an excellent race and got out well ahead of the field to get second place despite falling hard going down one of the hills. Sam (Stuckwisch) and Emma (Franke) ran a good race and battled  with many of the runners. We are vary pleased with their effort on a tough course."

Trinity will be home to Jac-Cen-Del and South Decatur at 4:30 p.m. Thursday
