The Trinity Lutheran Cougars found themselves in a hardwood showdown with South Ripley on Tuesday night in Bolinger Gymnasium. Last year the Cougars had an easy time disposing of the Raiders, but this time around the Cougars had their hands full.

In the end it was the Cougars prevailing,18-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-21, 19-17 to improve to 3-2 on the year.
Cougars Coach Sara Clark knew coming in that her team had a chance to win, but wasn't expecting the Raiders to be that much improved over last year.

The score for the first three games were the same, but the Cougars found themselves trailing 2-1. The Cougars began the first game trailing 6-0 and never recovered. In the second game, the Cougars found themselves leading 7-3, but the Raiders scored 11 straight points to take a 14-7 lead. The Raiders never trailed in the third game.

Dakota Richart was the driving force behind the Cougars success early and often from the serving line. She scored seven points in the third game and finished the night 19 of 19 serving with two aces.

The fourth game started out as a struggle for the Cougars as they fell behind 9-2, but they slowly got back in the game. The Raiders continued to commit errors and the Cougars finally tied the score at 17-all on a Richart ace.

After a South Ripley timeout, the Cougars scored eight of the final 12 points of the game to take the win and tie the match at two games apiece.

In the fifth game, the score went back-and-forth but in the end it was the Cougars who scored the final two points of the night for the win.
The Cougars finished the night 121 of 143 hitting with 44 kills. Sarah Onken was the team leader in that category as she was 47 of 51 with 18 kills. Kendall Lambring was 30 of 36 with 12 kills and Alexis White was 29 of 32 with 11 kills.
