Lady Braves win MSC track title
Comments 0 | Recommend 0RAMSEY - Once again coach Roger Bane's Brownstown Central girls track team showed its overall depth and strength to run away with the Mid Southern Conference track title.
The Lady Braves won nine events and piled up 179 points. Silver Creek was second with 125 points.
It was the seventh straight year Brownstown has won the conference.
Brownstown got off to a good start when Jamie Wehmiller, Victoria Ollo, Mallory Smith and Kassie Kovert teamed up to win the 3,200 relay in 10:43.2.
Kovert also won the 1,600 in 5:34.4, and the 800 in 2:30.2.
Ashley Allen also had a big night as she won the 100 in 13.1, the 200 in 26.9, and helped the 400 and 1,600 relay teams place first.
Sarah Baker won the discus and Marie Wehmiller won the long jump.
Braves placing second were Emily Sommers in the 100, Lindsey Rumph in the 100 hurdles, and Sammie Bane in the 400.
The Braves will prepare for the Seymour Sectional next Tuesday.
The MSC boys meet will be held Thursday night at Corydon.
