JANUARY WETZEL | THE TRIBUNE Dianne Cartmel of rural Brownstown, was named Southern Indiana Center for the Arts%u2019 Volunteer of the Year for 2012. Cartmel has been involved with the center since its inception in the early 1990s.

Dianne Cartmel of rural Brownstown doesn’t see her volunteer work at Southern Indiana Center for the Arts as work at all.

“I’ve always had a love for art,” she said.

Whether she’s helping out at annual summer art camps, planting flowers on the center’s grounds or organizing fundraisers, Cartmel said she sees a need in the community to support the arts because of the opportunities they can provide people, especially youth.
