A water line that froze and burst, flooding Jackson Superior Court I last week, occurred because of water left in a dry sprinkler system above the ceiling, a company working to repair the system said.

Former county commissioner John Schafstall said Thursday that workers with Grunau Co. of Indiana told him they believe the 2½-inch water line froze and broke

because water settled there.

“The sprinkler system is a wet-and-dry system with the portion in the roof above the insulation being dry,” Schafstall said.
