Upon entering Trinity Lutheran High School, Mitch Noelker said he was undecided if he wanted to participate in any athletics.
A year later, Noelker decided to play soccer, and he said he is happy he made that choice.
“I had never played soccer before my sophomore year,” he said. “I saw what Chad VanLiew was doing my freshman year, and it looked like fun. So that is when I told the coach that is what I wanted to do, and he had me hang back there (at goalkeeper), and I just kept learning more.
“I enjoy the fact that you’ve got to be ready for a long game because there are no timeouts,” he said. “You’ve got to know what you’re doing before you even go out there.”
