3 of Seymour’s tornado warning posts malfunction; city plans for repairs

Three of Seymour’s five storm warning sirens failed to operate properly during a recent test of the city’s severe weather alert system, local law enforcement agencies report.

One of the sirens, at the Burkart Boulevard overpass on the city’s east side, did not work at all, while two others emitted sound but did not rotate during the Feb. 1 test, Assistant Police Chief Craig Hayes said Friday.

This was the second consecutive month the Burkart siren hasn’t worked, he added.
