3-vehicle crash closes highway

Tribune phtotos by Aubrey Woods / This wreck at Main and Walnut streets in Brownstown Friday evening left two Jackson County Emergency Medical Services personnel hospitalized at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour and Main Street (U.S. 50) closed for nearly three hours. Brownstown Officer Tom Wright said the ambulance, which was being driven south on Main Street by Matt Montgomery, 20, of Seymour, struck a Chevrolet Suburban driven west on Walnut Street by Ran Burge, 73, of Brownstown. The impact forced Burge%u2019s vehicle into a traffic signal pole before coming to rest next to a building owned by Charles Greger of Jasper. The ambulance spun into a Chevrolet Impala driven by Margo Brewer, 68, of Brownstown. Montgomery and ambulance passenger Mark Gillespie, 30, of Seymour were taken to Schneck Medical Center. Burge and Brewer declined treatment at the scene. At the time of the accident, the ambulance was on an emergency run, according to a press release.
