A three-vehicle wreck Thursday afternoon on U.S. 50 west of North Vernon left seven people hospitalized, but the outcome could have been worse, police say.

One of the three drivers involved in the wreck, Hershell Cook, 85, of North Vernon, sustained a head injury and was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, according to a news release from Indiana State Police Trooper Randel Miller.

The others injured in the wreck were taken to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
