As Seymour senior wrestler John Rivera waited for his 138-pound match Thursday night at Scottsburg, he took mental notes.
There was a weakness in some of the Scottsburg wrestlers to that point, and he developed a strategy for getting the first takedown.
“I noticed that a lot of times they would just reach, and they left an easy setup just to post the elbows and shoot,” Rivera said. “That’s why the first takedowns were pretty easy to get because they did that often. It’s just really easy to notice when they are doing it.”
