5 troopers honored in Indy for lifesaving efforts

Five Indiana State Police troopers from the Versailles District were honored for their efforts to save two motorists involved in separate wrecks last year in Jackson County.

They were recognized at a ceremony Friday in Indianapolis. Troopers Korry Clark, Brent Lykins and Stephen Wheeles received the Indiana State Police Life Saving Award for their efforts in a wreck April 14, 2013, on Interstate 65, just north of the Jonesville exit.

Wheeles, who lives in the Brownstown area, was the first to respond to that wreck. He found that the head of Malinda Miller-Bell of Charlestown was pinned under her vehicle.
