Formal charges will likely be filed Monday against a Seymour man in connection with the homicide of a 23-year-old Seymour woman.
Gerald Eugene Combs Jr., 29, was arrested Friday on preliminary charges of murder, arson and neglect of a dependent in connection with the death of Tabitha Gayle Brock.
A probable cause affidavit filed Saturday with Jackson Superior Court II Judge Bruce MacTavish alleges that Combs is suspected of having killed Brock by hitting her during a fight, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Amy Marie Travis said Sunday afternoon.
Travis said she plans to file formal charges against Combs on Monday. She was unsure when Combs might appear in Jackson Circuit Court for his initial hearing, but it could take place as soon as today.
“Based on further information obtained, we believe that Mr. Combs caused her death,” Travis said, stressing, however, that suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
