For his first three years of football at Brownstown Central High School, Drew Shoemaker snapped the ball to the quarterback and blocked a lineman as the center.
But this year, Shoemaker gets to move around and block a variety of players as a guard.
“As a guard, there’s always a back side and play side,” he said. “As a center, you have one set of rules, but as a guard, you have to know back side and play side rules, so it’s a little more complicated. As a center, you know most of the rules for guards because you’ve got to do a lot of stuff together, so I knew most of the stuff.”
