Jackson County AmeriCorps members logged more than 22,000 work and volunteer hours with nonprofit groups, after-school programs and local agencies such as Jackson County Public Library last year.
What might not have been seen were the 135 hours each AmeriCorps worker, or member as the program calls them, spent in training.
From 12 to 20 percent of each worker’s committed 900 hours are spent in either general or host-site-specific training, AmeriCorps program director Nancy Fleming said.
Training covers a variety of areas, such as financial stability, presentation skills and goal setting, Fleming said.
