Cason Owens, 6, stood on a stage in front of a three-panel judge on Saturday morning, flapping his elbows and screeching into a microphone to imitate the sound of a turkey.
Owens, of Scottsburg, was among contestants who performed at the Bird Calling Contest at the 16th annual Wings Over Muscatatuck held at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge over the weekend.
Wearing a camouflage hat, T-shirt and overalls, Owens said he heard about the contest through a teacher at his school at Vienna-Finley Elementary School in Scottsburg. His favorite bird is a turkey.
