Marlie Brewer was the first to stand up during a program Wednesday about bullying at Seymour Middle School.
Because other kids have picked on her, making fun of her glasses and braces and how short she is, she suffers from low self-esteem, Marlie said.
“I know I’m ugly,” the seventh-grader said into the microphone. “You don’t have to keep telling me.”
Her classmates sat in silence, some shedding tears for the obvious pain Marlie was feeling and sharing.
