Architects, officials ready final stages before school expansion

Architects and school officials are racing to have everything in place so construction can begin on the $1.3 million addition of four classrooms at Emerson Elementary School in Seymour.

“We are working at a breakneck pace,” Jamie Lake with Kovert Hawkins Architects told school board members while giving an update on the project.

Lake said in response to the December school shootings in Newtown, Conn., the project’s scope has grown to include added safety measures.
