One of Jackson County Special Olympics program's premier events of the year — a basketball tournament for teams from across southern Indiana — was conducted Saturday at Seymour Middle School.
And like all of the other Special Olympics program in the county and around the state, the tournament, which features 15 teams, had one goal, organizer Ron Lowe said.
"Special Olympics offers a level playing field so these athletes can participate as a part of a team at their skill level," Lowe said.
Lowe, who has served as coordinator of Jackson County's Special Olympics program for eight years, said one of his major goals at this time is to get younger athletes involved not just in basketball but in the other sports offered here as well.
