Jackson County Sheriff’s Department made arrests of two visitors to Funfest at the Brownstown Speedway this weekend.

Reserve Deputy Scott Davis arrested Carl Jay Davis, 20, of Ellettsville and Adam L. Meyer, 28, of Corydon in separate incidents Friday.

Carl Davis was arrested at 5:48 p.m. Friday on a charge of driving while suspended with a prior conviction after he was observed spinning his tires along State Road 250 in front of the fairgrounds before driving into Funfest, according to a press release from the sheriff’s department.

He was released from Jackson County Jail on $705 bond later that evening.

Meyer was arrested at 7:19 p.m. Friday for possession of paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and

maintaining a common nuisance after officers smelled burning marijuana coming from a trailer that Meyer was using at his campsite, according to the sheriff’s department.

Officers searched the site, finding more marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and drug processing equipment, Scott Davis said. A handgun was also found in a truck on the site, but the weapon checked OK, he said.

Scott Davis said the the illegal activity becomes a stronger issue when it occurs at an event such as Funfest.

“Families trying to go have fun mix with these guys, and it makes it all the more dangerous,” Davis said.
