Going into Crothersville High School, Lauren Barnes wanted to be involved in numerous sports and activities.

She has fulfilled that goal by being a member of the volleyball team for four years, while this winter will be her fourth year of cheerleading, and next spring will be her fourth season of track and field. She also played basketball one season.

“I love being involved in all the stuff,” she said. “It does take a lot of my free time, though, so I have to be prepared for all the time I don’t have free. But I love it. I love playing sports.”

In volleyball, Barnes plays all-around.

“I played libero my sophomore year, and then I went to outside and played all the way around, so it’s been fun, and I like doing that,” she said. “It’s what I’ve known from playing club ball. Club ball was a lot of fun, but it was really, really busy, and that’s literally volleyball all year-round. I played club volleyball my sophomore year to learn how to be an outside hitter.”

When she is in the front row, Barnes plays on the left side.
