Austin’s mayor and a city worker accused of state election law violations were arrested Tuesday, police said.
Indiana State Police Post at Versailles reported Austin Mayor Douglas Campbell, 57, and Terry Danner, 58, of Scott County surrendered to investigators with the state police Criminal Investigations Division with the Sellersburg Post.
The arrests stem from an investigation that began about a year ago into allegations that Campbell and Danner violated state election law by illegally taking custody of absentee voters ballots.
