Brownstown Town Marshal Tom Hanner says putting more police on the streets of the county seat is making a difference.

“We had just 18 juvenile arrests this past year,” Hanner told town council members during a recent meeting.

“I think that’s a good number, and it’s because we have more guys on the streets,” Hanner said. “They (people) see them and don’t want to get in trouble.”

To continue that progress, he asked the council to approve his request to add three reserve officers to go with the four he has added in recent months. Reserve officers are required to obtain training and have arrest powers, but they do not get paid for the time they are on duty.
