Brownstown native Chris Baker has qualified for the third and final stage of qualifying for the Tour.

He recently finished with 9-under 279 to tie for eighth in a field of 76 at Shell Landing Golf Club in Gautier, Miss. He shot 68 in the first round and 73 in the second before carding back-to-back 69s.

The second stage featured six qualifiers in different regions of the United States. Thirty-two golfers from Baker's qualifying spot advanced to the final stage, which will feature six rounds of golf Dec. 12-17 at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.

The Tour, which was once known as the Nationwide Tour, is the developmental circuit for the PGA Tour. This is the first season of the Qualifying School. Future PGA Tour players now must earn their PGA Tour playing privileges through their performance on the Tour.
