Bank robbery suspect indicted: Jackson County man faces charges in federal court

A Jackson County man has been indicted in a pair of bank robberies in April.

Billy Joe Dugard, 36, of Crothersville faces two counts of bank robbery in connection with the indictment issued Aug. 30 by a grand jury with the New Albany Division of U.S. District Court, Southern District of Indiana, federal officials said Wednesday.

According to the indictment, a man, later identified as Dugard, entered the Scott County Bank branch at 125 W. McClain Ave. in Scottsburg on April 24 and presented a note to a teller demanding money. He fled after being given cash.

Dugard also is accused of entering a PNC bank branch at 46 E. State Road 60 in Pekin on April 30 and presenting a teller with a note demanding money. He then fled that bank after receiving money.

U.S. District Attorney Joseph H. Hogsett said Wednesday there is no evidence that Dugard was involved in any bank robbery in Seymour or Jackson County.
