Basketball tournament set during festival



CROTHERSVILLE

The Jimmy Stewart Memorial 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is set for 8 a.m. June 14 during Crothersville's annual Red, White and Blue Festival.

The tournament, hosted by Chad Wilson, will be in the Crothersville High School gymnasium. The entry fee is $50 for a four-man team. The first-, second- and third-place teams will receive a T-shirt, and the winning team also will receive a $200 cash prize.

Full Court Press Apparel will provide T-shirts for the tournament and will sell Red, White and Blue Festival T-shirts.

After receiving his master’s degree in education, Stewart was a high school principal, basketball coach and athletics director. He coached for more than 40 years.

He also was active in the community and served as the bowling head coach for Crothersville High School until he died on Feb. 27, 2013.
