Bitter cold keeps birdwatchers away from walk

The first of what organizers hope will be many bird walks was conducted Saturday morning at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge.

Bone-chilling temperatures and a potential winter storm kept anyone from attending, but the weather did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the walk’s organizers.

“We’re going to keep holding a bird walk on the third Saturday of each month,” bird enthusiast Linda Sullivan said from inside the refuge visitors center.
