Contractors and developers wanting to build in Seymour will have to abide by new construction standards and specifications when it comes to installing and repairing sewers, lift stations and streets.

The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a new technical specification manual last week at the request of sewer utility director Randy Hamilton.

Hamilton said the updated manual will become part of the city’s sewer use ordinance and will help the city better regulate development and prevent future problems with its sewer systems.

“It gives us a more comprehensive approach to the city’s growth,” Hamilton said.
