Seymour Community Schools board of trustees has chosen a new superintendent to fill the position for the remainder of the year and will name that person during a meeting at 7 p.m. today.

Board president Art Juergens would not reveal Monday who the candidate is, but spoke highly of his qualifications and personality.

“We had several applications from all over,” Juergens said. “What we were looking for was someone who has some experience and can come in here and get us through the year, and I think we found that.”

Juergens said the candidate has served as a superintendent in southern Indiana, but not in Jackson County.
