On the fast track to becoming an Eagle Scout, R.J. Beavers, 12, of Seymour, is learning what it means to be a leader and good community member.

Helping others, being kind, giving back and working hard are traits he plans to put into action by organizing a canned food drive this month to benefit the Community Provisions of Jackson County food pantry.

If successful, he will not only earn another merit badge but will see the real impact of good citizenship.
