Tigers, Cougars to meet Monday in baseball action

Two Jackson County high school baseball teams begin sectional play tonight, while the other two will play each other in Monday’s semifinals.

At 5 p.m. today in the Class 3A Sectional 30 at North Harrison, eighth-ranked Brownstown Central (16-8) will play Corydon Central. In the regular-season meeting on May 2 at Brownstown, the host Braves scored four runs in the first inning and held on for a 4-3 win.

“Corydon is a solid team with good pitching,” Braves coach John Lawson said. “They don’t make too many mistakes that hurt them, and their pitching will keep them in every game.”
