Brownstown Central’s football team used an efficient offensive performance that was punctuated by a second-quarter scoring burst to break away from Washington 62-30 in the opening round of the Class 3A Sectional 31 tournament on Friday night.
With the game tied at 7, the Braves (10-0) scored 20 points in a 99-second span to create separation from the home-standing Hatchets (1-9). In all, the Braves scored on nine of 10 offensive possessions to overwhelm Washington.
Thanks to Friday’s victory, Brownstown advanced to the second round of the sectional tournament and will take on North Harrison, a 42-14 first-round winner against Mitchell. Brownstown defeated North Harrison during the regular season, 28-0.
