Brownstown Central football coach Reed May recently wrote a couple of things on the board in the team’s locker room.

Before last week’s sectional-opener against Heritage Hills, he reminded the team of the previous year’s first-round defeat.

“I told them to think back 365 days, and we got beat the first game,” May said. “That hasn’t happened in a long time. I think it’s 12 or 13 years we’ve been in the sectional championship game, and last year, we got beat in Round 1. That was something I made sure the kids knew and pointed out to them and how they felt last year when we got beat.”

Leading up to this week’s semifinal game at Salem, May shared a fact that in the first round of sectional, there were some teams that got beat by a team they defeated in the regular season.
