Mitchell Grider and Drew Shoemaker turned in strong pitching performances on Saturday to spark Brownstown Central’s baseball team to 2-0 and 4-1 wins against Trinity Lutheran.
“Pitching was the difference today,” Braves coach John Lawson said of his right-handers. “Our guys outpitched their guys. It’s been that way all year. That’s one department that I thought we’d be strong in coming in.
“Some years, you kind of worry about your depth. We’ve still got some guys that haven’t been on the mound all that much that can pitch for us. The pitching has been fantastic. The guys are throwing strikes and keeping it around the plate. When you can play innings and give up four hits and one run, you ought to win.”
