The Brownstown Central baseball team took command of Monday’s game against Springs Valley with a seven-run first inning and rolled to an 11-1 win in six innings.

Coach John Lawson liked seeing his team jump on top early.

“We’ve not had too many of those this year,” he said. “What’s nice is being able to relax after a couple frustrating games over the weekend. It was nice to have a comfortable lead. We got to play everybody (19 players) on the roster that was not hurt. Everybody we had got in, and a lot of them contributed. We had a mixture of guys, and that’s great. They get in a varsity game and maybe get some butterflies out. Next year, a lot of those guys are going to be filling shoes.”
