Toward the end of Kari Brown’s freshman year of track and field at Brownstown Central High School, her distance coach recommended that she and some of the other distance runners go out for cross-country.
“She urged us to run cross-country to stay in shape for track,” Brown said. “That’s why I did it.”
She earned a spot in the top seven her sophomore year and continued to move up. In her senior season this fall, she ran second or third for the Braves.
