When fourth-grader Ella Wingler let go of her balloon during the annual balloon launch at Margaret R. Brown Elementary School, she had high hopes someone might find the attached card and send it back.

No one expected the bright orange balloon would travel very far from the school on Seymour’s southeast side.

Some of the more than 500 balloons launched that day ended up stuck in nearby trees; others didn’t have enough helium to lift them far off the ground.
