All five members of this year’s Brownstown Central High School drill team admitted they had nerves when they tried out for the squad for the first time.
Then there was a sigh of relief when they found out they made the team.
“I was nervous about it because I hadn’t danced for a couple years,” senior Rebekah Lawson recalled of her freshman year. “I was just excited to make it, and then the fact that Morgan (Myers) and India (Cyliax) made it with me made it even better.”
Even though they had danced since a young age, Cyliax and Myers said auditioning for the drill team when they were freshmen brought out the nerves. Myers said it was “insanely intimidating.”
