Regional didn’t go as planned for the Brownstown Central High School cheerleaders.
But they still did enough to advance to the state finals the next week. They corrected what needed to be corrected and wound up going from fifth place to second in the coed division, marking Brownstown’s second runner-up finish at the Indiana Cheer Championship State Finals, sponsored by the Indiana Association of School Principals.
“At awards, we honestly did not think we were going to get second place,” senior Jessica Pritchett said. “We were going to be like, ‘OK, fifth place, be happy; fourth place, be happy.’ And then we got second, and we were so excited. We screamed as soon as they said the third-place team.”
