Brownstown hires superintendent

School trustees hired a new superintendent and, with an expected enrollment drop, agreed to keep two teaching and one cleaning position unfilled this fall and phase out an assistant principal's position.

The district will also phase out one assistant principal's position over the next 18 months.

Superintendent Jim Terrell recommended the actions to Brownstown Central Community Schools trustees on Tuesday night.

Middle school Principal Greg Walker, 43, will replace Terrell, who announced his retirement earlier this year, effective Dec. 31.
