Brownstown native Baker misses cut in Tour golf event in Louisiana

In the first round of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open last week in Broussard, La., golfers competing in the Tour event had to play in some wet weather.

Brownstown native Chris Baker struggled and shot 76. He bounced back with 66 on Friday, but he missed his first cut of the year.

Kris Blanks and Brett Stegmaier tied at 14-under 270 through four rounds at Le Triomphe Country Club. On the third playoff hole, Blanks made a birdie putt to capture the title. Americans claimed the top four spots.

It was Baker’s fifth Tour event of the year and first in the United States. He now has a break until competing in the El Bosque Mexico Championship April 10-13 in Guanajuato, Mexico.
