The Florida-based owner of the former Kieffer Paper Mills Inc. property in Brownstown will attempt to sell the 35.3-acre site during an auction.

BIDITUP Auctions Worldwide will conduct the sale at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pewter Hall, 850 W. Sweet St., Brownstown. Bids will be accepted on-site and online.

Unicell Paper Mills Inc. of Lake Mary, Fla., also plans to sell a 1992 Kamyr-Andritz/Ahlstrom 150 TPD Deink Mill with a wet lap machine from the plant,

according to an auction brochure.

The auction website states structures for demolition and scrap opportunities also will be offered at the sale.

An operator at the company’s Florida offices said Tuesday morning all company officials were out of the country and not available for comment.

Brownstown Clerk-treasurer David Willey said he became aware of the sale Tuesday morning, and the company had not contacted the town hall about the auction.

Unicell, part of the Sharma Group of Companies, purchased the site at 1220 W. Spring St. in 2003.
