Going into Saturday’s sectional championship game at Charlestown, Brownstown Central senior Brett McCory only needed six points to reach 1,000 in his basketball career.
He scored five points in the first quarter. But over the next two quarters, he didn’t score.
McCory then turned it on in the fourth quarter, scoring 14 points, including three free throws to send the game into overtime. He added four more points in overtime to help the Braves beat Corydon Central 55-50.
He topped the 1,000-point mark on a putback at the six-minute mark of the fourth quarter.
