Batesville scored a goal with 20 minutes to go in Monday’s Batesville Invitational championship match and held on for a 1-0 win against Seymour, dropping the Owls to 3-4-1 on the season.
The first round of the tournament was played on Aug. 31, but the consolation and championship matches were postponed because of the weather.
Batesville took 18 shots to Seymour’s eight. Owls goalkeeper Chase Salmon made 11 saves, including two back-to-back before the Bulldogs scored.
“He had an amazing match. He played out of his mind,” Owls coach Matt Dennis said of Salmon. “He probably had the best match I’ve seen him play in the three years he has been varsity keeper.”
