It was a sunny yet windy 80-degree afternoon Wednesday for the opening round of the girls tennis sectional at Seymour.
Brownstown Central’s No. 1 doubles team of seniors Lacy Daulton and Michaela Patton said the wind had something to do with them falling behind Trinity Lutheran’s Anna Nagino and Shelby Nierman 4-3 in the first set.
They, however, adjusted and won nine straight games for a 6-4, 6-0 win, evening the match at 1. The Braves then won at the other three positions for a 4-1 win and a spot in today’s semifinals against Austin.
“I think we just got caught up in the wind,” Daulton said. “We were playing where we were having to hit with the wind, so we just kind of lost it and were hitting too high. We were just adjusting to the wind in the first set.”
