The ARC of Jackson County brought members and the community together recently for the organization’s annual meeting and banquet.

The event recognized those who have worked to benefit people with developmental disabilities in Jackson County.

“We honor people we serve and the people that serve with them,” ARC president Kerry Bonney said. “It’s important for us to celebrate what we’ve achieved throughout the year.”

The organization not only acts as an advocate for those with developmental disabilities, it also creates events to bring them together, Bonney said.

She said these events are important for area residents who have trouble interacting or don’t have the opportunity to interact with others often.

“We love every opportunity to come together,” Bonney said. “It’s just a thrill to see their faces.”
