Today marks more than just the first weekend after the Labor Day holiday. It’s also the traditional point when political races begin to heat up, as candidates eye the November general election with laser-like focus.
Since this is a presidential election year, things could get particularly hot, as in nasty, because a lot is at stake.
Democrats want to retain control of the White House and the U.S. Senate. Republicans would like to strengthen their hold on the U.S. House of Representatives and complete the hat trick by also seizing control of the Senate and the White House.
The battle for the presidency between President Barack Obama, a Democrat, and Republican challenger Mitt Romney could be even nastier than it’s been in the final two months until the Nov. 6 election.
