Purdue Extension Service of Jackson County plans to hold a ServSafe Food Handlers certification class and examination Jan. 8 at the courthouse, 111 S. Main St., Brownstown.

State law requires certification of one food handler per food establishment.

ServSafe is a national program developed by the food service industry to help restaurateurs prevent food-borne illness potentials, according to a news release.
