Charges add 80 more years to Crothersville man's sentence

BROWNSTOWN

A Crothersville man already serving 58 years for the 2009 slaying of his father recently received an additional 80 years in prison stemming from his conviction on two counts of conspiracy to commit murd­er.

John Aaron Shoultz III received 40 years for each conspiracy conviction, but Jackson Circuit Court Judge Bill Vance’s Dec. 20 sentencing order allows those 40-year terms to be served concurrently or at the same time.

The 24-year-old Shoultz, however, will not begin serving those sentences until he completes the 58-year prison term he received earlier this year for killing his father. Shoultz was convicted of murdering his father, John A. Shoultz Jr., on the evening of May 2, 2009, after an incident in which the younger Shoultz and his girlfriend taped the legs of his mother’s pet Chihuahua, Tiny Tot, together.
