Two years ago as sixth-graders, Whitney Rogers and Taylor Schuerman experienced the Lutheran Basketball Association of America Lutheran National Tournament at Valparaiso University.

The three-day tournament consisted of the top 32 Lutheran school girls basketball teams. Some received automatic bids by winning their state tournament, while others made it by playing good competition and putting together a solid season.

This year, as the only two eighth-graders on the St. John’s Sauers Lutheran School girls basketball team, Rogers and Schuerman get to experience the Lutheran National Tournament one last time. The Raiders’ first game is at 12:30 p.m. Friday against St. Michael of Fort Myers, Fla.
