Child molestation case nets 6-year prison term

A Jackson County man who pleaded guilty to molesting a 6-year-old child has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Everett James McGill, 46, entered a guilty plea on that Class C felony count on May 7, according to Jackson Circuit Court documents.

On June 4, McGill received the six-year sentence from Senior Judge William E. Vance. Vance gave McGill 175 days credit and 175 days credit time and ordered him to pay court costs and a $350 public defender fee.

Vance also granted the state’s request to drop six additional counts including a second count of child molesting, two counts of child solicitation and two counts of performing sexual conduct in the presence of a minor.
